About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in the Nursing Resource Unit (NRU), you will:
- Provide nursing cover across a variety of inpatient wards at Whanganui Hospital
- Support selected community-based services where required (e.g. District Nursing, Supportive Discharge)
- Work flexibly across clinical areas, gaining broad experience
- Support other areas of the organisation where duties reasonably align with the scope of the role
Expressions of Interest – Rural After‑Hours (District Nursing)
We are also interested in expressions of interest from Registered Nurses who:
- Have experience or an interest in District Nursing, maternity, rural, or community-based care
- Are willing to provide casual rural after‑hours cover in the Waimarino and Rangitīkei areas
- Are seeking flexible work alongside a predominantly hospital‑based NRU role
About the Team
The Nursing Resource Unit provides skilled nursing cover across Whanganui Hospital and designated community services. You will work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care wherever the need arises.
About You
We are seeking a Registered Nurse who:
- Has at least one year of post‑registration experience
- Holds a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- Meets the competencies required by the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Holds a full NZ driver licence and is confident driving locally and rurally
- Demonstrates strong clinical judgement, adaptability, and effective communication
- Is confident using core clinical and administrative systems (e.g. MS Office, clinical portal)
- Holds a valid New Zealand working visa or residency
