About the Role
Whanganui Hospital's Emergency Department is seeking a motivated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated team on a permanent basis.
Our Emergency Department provides care to both adult and paediatric patients across a wide range of medical, surgical, and trauma presentations. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our nursing and clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality care in a busy and rewarding environment.
This position involves rostered and rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays. The successful applicant will be a team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and is committed to providing excellent support to patients and whānau.
About the Team
Our multidisciplinary Emergency Department team is committed to delivering patient- and whānau-centred care to the Whanganui community. We work collaboratively, supporting one another to provide responsive and compassionate care during some of our patients' most vulnerable moments.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, professional, and dedicated team focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.
About You
You will have:
- Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant or in a healthcare support role
- A minimu Level 2 Health and Wellbeing (or a willingness to work towards this qualification)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
- A caring, respectful, and professional approach to patient care
- A commitment to providing safe, high-quality, and culturally responsive care
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a fast-paced clinical setting
- A willingness to work rostered and rotating shifts
