Physiotherapist - Older Person Assessment Liaison Unit at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral, Manawatu / Whanganui

About the Role

MidCentral is looking for an experienced physiotherapist to work in the Older Person Assessment Liaison (OPAL) unit.  The position is temporary, full time for up to 12 months maternity leave cover and is based at Palmerston North Hospital.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who enjoys teamwork, has good time management, leadership skills, enjoys sharing skills and knowledge and is flexible and can adapt to a change easily.  You must be a good communicator and have at least 2 years experience is preferable but not necessary.

About the Service and Location

The OPAL unit is an inpatient ward for older persons with frailty.  Its purpose is to assess and treat the issues that are causing frailty, to return people to their homes as soon as possible and put plans in place to continue the improvements in their health when they are at home. In this role, you will be working in a transdisciplinary team consisting of geriatricians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social worker, NASC and allied health assistants.
