Paediatrician at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral, Manawatu / Whanganui

About the Role

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities. 

As a Paediatrician in Palmerston North, you will share a 1:8 acute roster covering the broad gamut of acute paediatrics with a 14-bed level 2A neonatal unit taking babies 28 weeks gestation (1000g) and over. The service is supported by dedicated Paediatric RMOs on site at all times. You will enjoy a range of outpatient clinics in the hospital and the community.  We are expanding innovative models of care in partnership with nursing and general practice.

We enjoy excellent liaison with tertiary colleagues from Starship and Wellington, who all visit on a regular basis.  We are proud of our reputation as a centre for trainees in Paediatrics, General Practice and Emergency Medicine.

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral has an exciting opportunity for a vibrant, experienced Paediatrician to join our team! We are looking for someone who is energetic and complements the current skillset of our team of consultants. 

This role would suit an experienced Paediatrician or a consultant looking for their first consultant post. We are happy to support advanced trainees in a provisional fellowship role too, and can cater role specifics to suit training needs.
