MidCentral, as a leading provider of mental health services in the lower North Island, includes Oranga Hinengaro, a specialist Kaupapa Māori Mental Health team. The purpose of this team is to improve the level and effectiveness of mental health services provided to Māori in the moderate to severe range.

About the Role

The delivery of mental health and addiction services for Māori is a key area for positive change in Aotearoa New Zealand. Oranga Hinengaro, in essence, is mental wellbeing from Māori perspectives.  We are striving for a future where mental health services are informed by the mahi and views of people with lived experience, as well as clinical and cultural perspectives.

You will provide nursing care that is safe, cost effective and of the highest quality in accordance with the evidence, professional standards, Organisational Standards and Policy and Procedure. The nurse works in partnership with whaiora and their families/whānau and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective care, using recovery principles.

About you

We are looking for applications from registered nurses who:

  • Demonstrate good clinical decision-making skills
  • Effectively delegate to and supervise health care assistants and student nurses

 Relevant Post Graduate Qualifications are desirable.
