Associate Charge Nurse – Neonatal Unit, Palmerston North Hospital, Permanent, Full-time

About the Role

As an Associate Charge Nurse in our Neonatal Unit, you will work alongside the Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care, lead nursing teams, and maintain clinical standards. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical leadership and mentoring staff
  • Overseeing patient flow and care planning
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with rostering and resource management

This role is pivotal in ensuring excellent outcomes for newborns and their families while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

About the Team/Service

Our Neonatal Unit provides specialist care for premature and critically ill babies. You'll join a passionate, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering family-centred care and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

About you

We're looking for a senior nurse who brings:

  • Current NZ Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
  • Minimum 5+ years neonatal nursing experience
  • Experience as a shift leader in a clinical setting
  • Postgraduate Diploma (completed or in progress)
  • Working towards Expert Level (4) PDRP
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cultural competency skills
