We are seeking applications for a permanent 1.0 FTE Charge Nurse, Oncology Ambulatory Care Charge Nurse Palmerston North Regional Hospital.

Cancer nursing in this setting is centred on patient focused nursing care and support, enhancing the coordination, continuity and collaboration of the multi-disciplinary team within the Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS).

About the Role

The RCTS Outpatient Charge Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day provision of nursing care in the Oncology Day Unit and outpatient clinics for the specialties of Clinical Haematology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology.  Our nursing team is integral to the care provided in these specialist areas.
 
This role is central to the coordination of patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy and supportive treatment and works closely with the Charge Nurse, Ward 23 to ensure coordinated patient flow across the service.

You will be expected to have or work towards CVAD certification and chemotherapy administration competence within the first six months of employment – full support will be given to achieve this.  There is also opportunities and support for ongoing professional development and education.

Professional and operational leadership and support will be provided by the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Operational Lead. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Nurse wishing to progress into a nursing leadership position.


Nurses with advanced patient assessment skills, proven leadership ability, quality improvement experience, excellent communication skills and computer knowledge, and who enjoy working in a supportive, team environment are invited to apply. 

The successful nurse is expected to have or be working towards Expert Level PDRP and have a post-graduate qualification or be willing to work towards this within a specified timeframe.
