Are you passionate about healthcare technology and ready to make a difference in patient care? We are seeking a skilled Clinical Engineer to join our Clinical Engineering team, supporting Mid Central and Whanganui Hospitals with safe, efficient, and sustainable health technology services.

About the Role

As a Clinical Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring medical equipment and systems are safe, functional, and compliant. You'll be hands-on across the full equipment lifecycle—from procurement and installation to calibration, maintenance, and decommissioning—directly supporting clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service medical devices and systems to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Perform equipment calibration, performance checks, repairs, and decontamination.
  • Support onboarding, configuration, and commissioning of new medical technology.
  • Assist with safety alerts, recalls, incident investigations, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, vendors, and national HTM partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and cost-efficiency in operations.

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in Clinical or Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in clinical engineering or health technology management.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson – Medical endorsement (or willingness to obtain within 24 months).
  • A full New Zealand Driver's License.
  • Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a health setting.
