About the Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced and motivated typist/transcriptionist to work in our team.  This role will work across all departments within our Service by providing effective and timely typing and transcription services to the people in our region, that use our service.  You will be required to work across the full scope of services and may work for other Departments. 

This role is full time 40 hours Monday to Friday between the hours of 0700 -1700, we may consider some negotiation around the actual hours for the right person. The role will be based onsite at the Palmerston North Hospital Campus working in a team environment.

About you 

In order to manage the workloads for these services you will need to have excellent and proven typing skills preferably in a medical field. Excellent communication skills are paramount and a willingness to be a team player is a must. You will be customer focused with excellent keyboard skills, communication and secretarial/administrative skills, a positive manner and possess the following attributes: 

  • Excellent word processing/data entry skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy and presentation
  • Experience with medical terminology and Winscribe would be an advantage – excellent touch typing skills are essential as you will be working with an electronic dictation system. You should have a wpm level of at least 60 with the ability to improve on that in a short time frame and a high accuracy rate. Previous experience with digital dictation would also be preferred.
  • Able to work closely with colleagues and the ability to manage a variety of departments needs in a busy environment.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet or exceed deadlines/KPI's
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A strong commitment toward quality improvement.
