Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Whanganui is committed to delivering high-quality oral health care and supporting whānau wellbeing. We are looking for a dedicated Dental Assistant to provide chairside support and assist in the smooth day-to-day running of our dental clinics.

About the Role

As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with Dentists and Dental Therapists/Hygienists to ensure efficient clinical operations and excellent patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing chairside assistance during dental procedures
• Managing clinic preparation and maintaining a clean, professional environment
• Promoting oral health education to patients and whānau
• Ensuring strict infection control protocols are followed
• Supporting administrative tasks and patient flow

This role is pivotal in creating a positive experience for patients and supporting the delivery of safe, effective dental services.

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

• Organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail
• Culturally aware, committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and whānau-centred care
• Able to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly
• Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role

 Essential:

• Minimum NCEA Level 1 (Year 11) or equivalent
• Current NZ driver's licence
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality

 Desirable:

• Previous dental or healthcare experience
• Computer literacy (MS Office, patient management systems)
