About the Role

We currently have exciting opportunities for registered nurses Ngā Wai Ngaro -  Acute Mental Health Inpatient Facility - at a time of transformation and growth.

We have, full-time position, part time and one casual role available, working rostered, rotating duties.

 About the Team/Service

 Ngā Wai Ngaro is Midcentral's new 28-bed inpatient facility, featuring two additional low-stimulus bedrooms, offers a secure and comfortable setting for prompt admissions and discharges. Ngā Wai Ngaro provides 24-hour mental health and addictions assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults through an integrated approach, in collaboration with community mental health localities. The nurse-led service is supported by medical staff and a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, allied health professionals, cultural and lived experience support, Tangata Whaiora, and whānau.

Ngā Wai Ngaro embodies a nurturing and supportive environment specifically designed for Whaiora. The facility is conceptualised around the transformative journey from darkness to light, symbolising the process of healing, growth, and renewal. This concept is woven into the physical space, the approach to care, and the overall atmosphere, creating a holistic sanctuary where Tangata Whaiora can feel supported and empowered throughout their recovery. 

This building has a range of new features designed to support contemporary mental health practice. Alongside this, the services being provided from these new facilities have reviewed their model of care to ensure that the care and treatment provided best meets the needs of the people accessing the service, along with their family whānau.

About you

We are looking for applications from registered nurses who:

  • A Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate
  • Experience in mental health
  • Strong commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care
  • A team player with excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about making a lasting impact in mental health services Are enthusiastic and motivated
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Are consumer and recovery focused
  • Are strong team players
  • Demonstrate good clinical decision-making skills
  • Effectively delegate to and supervise health care assistants and student nurses 

Relevant Post Graduate Qualifications are desirable.
