Are you calm under pressure, highly organised, and passionate about delivering excellent customer service? Join our team as a Telephonist and play a vital role in connecting people to the care they need.

About the role

As a Telephonist, you'll be the first point of contact for many people accessing hospital services. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will manage incoming calls, coordinate communication across the hospital, and support critical response systems.

This is a rostered role, covering mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays.

What you'll be doing

  • Answering and directing high volumes of calls in a professional and timely manner
  • Operating the hospital switchboard, paging, and communication systems
  • Supporting emergency responses (e.g. fire, cardiac arrest, civil defence alerts)
  • Monitoring alarms and coordinating communication across teams
  • Completing administrative tasks to support telephony services

About you

You'll bring a strong customer focus and the ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.

You will also have:

  • Experience in a customer service, call centre, or telephony environment
  • Clear and confident verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy environment
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience with a PABX or switchboard system
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
