About the role
As a Telephonist, you'll be the first point of contact for many people accessing hospital services. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will manage incoming calls, coordinate communication across the hospital, and support critical response systems.
This is a rostered role, covering mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays.
What you'll be doing
- Answering and directing high volumes of calls in a professional and timely manner
- Operating the hospital switchboard, paging, and communication systems
- Supporting emergency responses (e.g. fire, cardiac arrest, civil defence alerts)
- Monitoring alarms and coordinating communication across teams
- Completing administrative tasks to support telephony services
About you
You'll bring a strong customer focus and the ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
You will also have:
- Experience in a customer service, call centre, or telephony environment
- Clear and confident verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy environment
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience with a PABX or switchboard system
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
