About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Emergency Department Administration Support to join our team at Palmerston North Hospital in a permanent, full‑time role.

In this role, you will provide high‑quality administrative, clerical, and rostering support to the Emergency Department, contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day operation of a busy and dynamic clinical environment. You will play a key role in workforce coordination, leave and timesheet administration, meeting support, and general operational assistance, ensuring clinical teams are well supported to deliver safe and effective patient care.

This is a varied and engaging role that requires accuracy, confidentiality, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced setting.

About the Team/Service

The Emergency Department at Palmerston North Hospital is a large, multidisciplinary service providing acute care to the MidCentral community. You will work closely with clinical leaders, nursing staff, medical workforce teams, payroll, and other hospital administration teams as part of a supportive and collaborative environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong administrative capability, attention to detail, and the confidence to work in a busy healthcare environment.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in an administrative role (healthcare experience preferred)
  • Experience supporting rostering or workforce coordination processes
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a hospital or Emergency Department setting
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and rostering requirements
  • Experience using roster management systems such as Microster
