About the Role
Exciting opportunities are available for non‑training Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrars at Palmerston North Hospital.
MidCentral District provides an excellent foundation for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrars looking to grow and develop their clinical skills in a supportive, well‑structured environment. The hospital operates a busy birthing suite, with just over 2,000 births annually across the district.
In recent years, the service has enhanced the management of both spontaneous and induced labour through a strong multidisciplinary approach and a focus on continuous audit and outcome monitoring. This commitment to quality improvement has contributed to a reduction in caesarean section rates.
The position will provide the support and clinical exposure for those wishing to continue a career in obstetrics and gynaecology. This includes advice, mentoring and facilitation to attend necessary courses for application the RANZCOG training programme.

About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. (Check eligibility on www.mcnz.org.nz)
- Completed PGY2 year or equivalent.
- Completed at least one year as an obstetrics and gynaecology senior house officer.
