Paediatric Registrars

2027 RMO Training Year

Start date: 1 February 2027

This position is part of the RMO Annual Recruitment Cycle current vacancies will continue to be advertised.

 

About the Role

MidCentral District provides an excellent foundation for Paediatric Registrars looking to grow and develop their clinical skills within a supportive regional service.

The service includes a 14‑bed Neonatal Unit, caring for infants from 28 weeks' gestation or 1,000 grams, alongside a busy Children's Ward managing a wide range of acute and general paediatric admissions.

Registrars gain broad exposure across:

  • Inpatient paediatric ward care
  • Neonatal medicine
  • Outpatient paediatric clinics
  •  

Comprehensive tertiary support is available through Starship Children's Hospital, including regular visiting subspecialty outpatient clinics delivered by Starship SMOs, providing valuable specialist exposure while training regionally.

MidCentral District is accredited for two (2) years of Basic Paediatric Training, as well as one (1) year of Advanced Training, making it an excellent site for both foundational and advanced paediatric registrar experience.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz.
  • Completed PGY2 or equivalent.
  • Keen interest in Paediatrics.
