About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Educator to join our Blood and Cancer service at Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua (MidCentral). This is a key leadership role focused on building a capable, confident, and future-ready nursing workforce delivering high-quality cancer care.
As a Nurse Educator, you will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of education programmes that support safe, evidence-based practice across oncology, haematology, and clinical trials. You will play a pivotal role in developing staff knowledge and competence in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), supporting the safe delivery of complex treatments and evolving models of care.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will provide clinical education and support across hospital, regional, and community settings. This includes contributing to orientation programmes, competency frameworks, ongoing professional development, and the implementation of new therapies and service innovations.
You will act as a visible clinical leader and role model, fostering a positive learning culture and supporting nurses at all stages of their careers to achieve their full potential. A strong commitment to equity, culturally safe practice, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi underpins this role, ensuring care is responsive to the needs of diverse patients and whānau.

About you
You will bring:
- Current NZ Nursing Council registration (APC required)
- Significant clinical experience in oncology or SACT
- Proven experience in education, training, or clinical coaching
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 3 Professional Portfolio (PDRP)
- Chemotherapy ADAC certification
- CVAD certification
- Port certification
- Cannulation and Venepuncture certification
- Post Graduate Diploma or working towards this within agreed timelines.
While certification for the above is preferred, it is not essential. Training will be provided.
