About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Haematology team within the Regional Cancer Treatment Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist expertise caring for people with both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care across the continuum of care including diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship, supportive care, and where required, end-of-life care.

You will be involved in delivering specialised treatments and interventions including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood and blood product transfusions, stem cell therapies, venesections, cannulation, and supporting bone marrow procedures.

About the Team / Service

The Regional Cancer Treatment Service provides specialist cancer care for a large regional population spanning MidCentral, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, and Whanganui.

Our Haematology service delivers comprehensive treatment and supportive care for patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions through a collaborative multidisciplinary approach. The team includes Haematologists, Haematolgoy Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Allied Health professionals, pharmacists, and support staff who are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

About You

You are a motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for delivering exceptional patient-centred care and an interest in developing specialist knowledge in Haematology and Cancer Services.

You will have:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to providing culturally safe, equitable care and achieving better outcomes for Māori
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Sound computer literacy and documentation skills
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining clinical competencies
• The ability to thrive in a dynamic and often complex clinical environment

Desirable:

• Previous experience in Haematology, Oncology, Cancer Services, or Medical Nursing
• Chemotherapy administration/ADAC certification, or willingness to obtain
•  PICC, CVAD and cannulation certification.
• Methoxyflurane certification.
• Blood and blood product administration competency
• Experience caring for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation
• Postgraduate study or a commitment to further professional education
• Experience participating in quality improvement, audit, or service development activities
• Proficient Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio or working towards this level
