Are you a passionate and experienced mental health nurse leader looking for an opportunity to shape the future of acute inpatient mental health care?

Te Pae Hauora o Tararua | MidCentral Mental Health and Addiction Services is seeking an outstanding Charge Nurse Manager to lead Nga Wai Ngaro, our acute mental health inpatient ward. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to make a meaningful difference for tāngata whaiora, whānau, kaimahi, and the wider community.

As the Charge Nurse Manager, you will provide visible clinical and operational leadership, creating an environment where tāngata whaiora feel safe, supported, and empowered in their recovery journey. You will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team, promoting excellence in practice, compassionate care, clinical safety, and continuous improvement.

Working alongside nursing, medical, allied health, cultural, and community partners, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, recovery-focused, trauma-informed, least restrictive approaches and culturally responsive services. You will support the development of strong care pathways, enhance service performance, and help ensure positive outcomes for tāngata whaiora and their whānau.

The successful candidate will bring strong clinical leadership, a commitment to equity and quality improvement, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. You will provide leadership across workforce planning, professional development, clinical governance, and the day-to-day operation of the ward, while fostering a positive team culture built on collaboration, respect, accountability, and growth.
