0.8 FTE Permanent Fulltime (32 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Health Professional to join our Community Mental Health and Addiction Services team. This role provides specialist addiction assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused support for service users/tangata whaiora and their whānau. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based interventions, manage a clinical caseload, and contribute to positive health and wellbeing outcomes through a holistic, person-centred approach.

The Community Mental Health and Addiction Service provides integrated mental health and addiction support across the Whanganui region. Out team is committed to delivering high-quality, culturally responsive services that support recovery, wellbeing, and community participation. You will work alongside skilled multidisciplinary team in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Registration with DAPAANZ, Nursing Council, Social Work Registration Board, or another relevant professional body, with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Experience working in the Mental Health and/ or Addiction sector.
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive assessments, provide counselling and therapeutic interventions, and support recovery-focused care.
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment, risk assessment, and evidence-based practice.
  • Commitment to culturally safe practice and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and multi-disciplinary team-working skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to team objectives.
  • Competent computer skills and experience with electronic clinical documentation systems.
  • A current full New Zealand driver's license.
  • Eligibility to undergo Police Vetting.
