Community Work Supervisor - Palmerston North at Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections), Manawatu-Whanganui

About the role | Mō te tūnga
We are all about changing lives and creating pathways through meaningful Community Work projects. As a Community Work Supervisor, you will oversee and manage up to 8 community workers serving community work sentences on meaningful projects at schools, reserves, community groups, Marae and churches - whatever the community needs.
We have one vacancy based out of the Palmerston North Service Centre, this a permanent position for four days a week from Wednesday to Saturday 7am to 4pm (36 hours). The hourly rate for this role is $22.71 per hour.
About you | Mōu
You need to have a firm but fair attitude with regard to dealing with people from a variety of backgrounds and have a non-judgemental manner when faced with challenging situations. You must have a full driver's licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle. Hands on practical skills are a definite asset given the variety of projects that are undertaken by the Community Work team. Skills required, but not limited to, include:
- Being resourceful and self-motivated
- Being flexible
- Able to resolve complaints quickly and efficiently
- Able to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude
- Building renovations
- Carpentry
- painting and general repair
- Restoration and maintenance
- Punctuality and Reliable
- Professional: must respect the people we care for
Please note you will need to complete a criminal history check and undertake a pre-employment drug test.
