This role is split between 2 specialties: of 0.5fte Maternal mental health and 0.5fte Child and Adolescent mental health
The MICAMHAS team are looking for a registered nurse or social worker or psychologist who is able to support the Maternal mental health clinician providing treatment/therapy for mothers and babies as part of the role with the additional part of the role providing services to young people. The role will involve assessment and therapy/intervention with mothers and their babies as well as young people and their whanau who experience moderate to severe and complex mental health and addiction issues.
We provide rural clinics and urgent assessment work so there will be a need to be flexible and the ability to adapt to changing environments and situations.
It is expected you will have an understanding of the impact of social determinants on infant, child and youth development and the importance of cultural connections while fostering strength-based model of care.
Whanganui MICAMHAS uses the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) as a service model so the ability to work collaboratively with mothers and babies , young people and their whanau, encouraging resilience and problem-solving skills is an important aspect of this role.
Being able to develop and maintain working relationships with our Whanganui community partners is essential.
The current team is committed to best practice guidelines and improving outcomes so participation in quality improvement work is expected.
