Ko te kaupapa | About the role

 

Te Whatu Ora, Whanganui, Data and Digital Services require a Senior Systems Engineer to join our busy Infrastructure team.

 

This role is responsible for providing expert level support for core Whanganui hospital infrastructure solutions, from desktops through to server infrastructure, applications, network services and devices (LAN, WAN, WLAN, cloud, internet, and telecommunications) and requests escalated from the Service Desk to third-level action.  Ensuring that users of Whanganui hospital receive the best possible service, enable and support them providing high quality, patient centered, safe, equitable and sustainable care to our community.

 

This can, at times, be a fast paced and challenging environment where you are expected to understand how the small decisions you make can impact patient care.

 

You will have excellent communication and customer service skills using your initiative to resolve sometimes complex issues, thinking ahead our customers' requirements and take responsibility for delivering successful results.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and experience:

 

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (preferred)
  • ITIL foundation qualification (preferred)
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience in a senior engineering role preferably in a health environment (but not essential).
  • Windows server, Active Directory, Exchange, VMware, and firewall administration and maintenance experience, etc.
  • Understands TCP/IP/WLAN networking, routing and switch management
  • Have VMware experience.
  • Experience in use and support of cloud-based applications (especially MS Azure)
  • Experienced in security, antivirus, and threat management.
  • Deep understanding of PC and server hardware and peripherals.
