Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.
The Opportunity

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with energy and vision for our Healthy Ageing & Rehabilitation Service at Midcentral. This is a 0.8 FTE permanent position of 32 hours a week.
The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary assessment and therapy-based service providing inpatient and outpatient services to older persons with mental health needs with or without co-morbidities or frailty. The position offers the opportunity to provide assessment and therapeutic interventions over a wide scope of clinical practice areas and to further develop the psychology role within the service.
Key tasks for this position will include undertaking psychological and neuropsychological assessments and therapy to develop strategies to maximise the mental health and physical health status of people aged 65 years and older. The focus of the role is to promote recovery as well as supporting families/whanau.
An interest in working with individuals with mental health and cognitive disabilities is essential, and preference will be given to applicants with previous experience working in mental health settings at middle to senior role level. Knowledge and experience undertaking neuropsychological assessments is highly desirable.
