Ngā kawenga | About the role

It is an exciting time to join Corrections Intelligence! There are a number of opportunities available in the National Security Intelligence team. The positions will work to deliver nationally consistent products which provide decision advantage in the areas of the highest security and intelligence risks – national security and harm reduction. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Understanding of the strategic, operational and tactical use of intelligence
  • Competency in problem solving and the ability to think critically, applying a growth mindset
  • Effective self-management during complex projects
  • The credibility, integrity, and personality to establish and maintain effective relationships internal and external to the Department of Corrections
  • Experience and understanding of working in a National Security related area or knowledge of the custodial environment would be advantageous

A full driving licence is required as travel will be a requirement of this role. The hours to be worked are within 0700-1900 Monday-Friday and can be discussed at interview.

Auckland based role

The position reports to an Intelligence Supervisor within the National Security Intelligence team and predominantly services the prisoners of extreme risk directorate. Based in Auckland Prison, this role focuses on producing tactical and operational products to service site based decision making. You will work in partnership with your team and wider business functions to identify risks, deter and prevent harm, and support the safety of prisons. Possessing an ability to evaluate information with a sense of urgency with an ability to flex to competing priorities, you will be vigilant in ensuring the integrity of our operations by elevating concerns before issues arise in the areas of the highest and most complex risk. This role will preferably be Auckland based, or be able to demonstrate experience contributing to a high performing team remotely.

National based role

This position is within the National Security Intelligence Unit and has a specific focus on Transnational Organised Crime and Terrorism and Violent Extremism, completing operational and strategic reporting. The position will report to an Intelligence Supervisor and will work to deliver national intelligence products which provide decision advantage in the areas of the highest and most complex national security risk. This role is preferably located in Wellington, or be able to demonstrate experience contributing to a high performing team remotely.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $98,888 and the full range (85%-120%) is $84,055 - $118,666. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
