People Experience is a directorate of the People Branch at Fire and Emergency New Zealand. We are at the beginning of a journey to define purpose and design people-centric services. About the role
The Principal Advisor Safety, Health and Wellbeing's expert knowledge, understanding and experience, advances the development and implementation of safety and wellbeing programmes, projects, information, initiatives and policies nationally within Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
Under the guidance of the Manager Safety, Health and Wellbeing, this role leads and influences the safety, health and wellbeing practices and initiatives adopted and implemented by Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
The Principal Advisor will work closely with other Safety, Health and Wellbeing Team Leaders to foster collaboration and multi-disciplinary working across regions.
This role is Wellington- based, and as a permanent position the following benefits will apply:

You are an experienced health and safety practitioner who knows how to interpret complex information and deliver sustainable initiatives that will help keep our people safe and well.
You will have worked previously in a large, complex organisation, and been responsible for the design and implementation of SHW programmes that strengthen and continuously improve an organisation's health and safety management system, to enable national consistency and adherence to procedures and standards.
You will have experience in leading or managing teams and have extensive expertise across key areas of health and safety management to ensure an organisation meets its PCBU duty of care.
You are comfortable working collaboratively with various stakeholder groups and including representative unions and associations.
