Job Description

Electronic Forensic Investigator

This is a new and exciting role to provide electronic forensic services to a small number of Government agencies: Immigration New Zealand, the Financial Markets Authority and the Commerce Commission. Each of these agencies is financially supporting this new position on a ‘club-funded' basis.

The investigator will be an employee of the Serious Fraud Office but work on a day to day basis from the NZ Customs electronic forensic unit in Auckland.

What will you do?

  • Undertake the acquisition and analysis of electronic media for the agencies
  • Work closely with each of the agencies to meet their investigation needs
  • Provide any advice and support the agencies require relating to the electronic forensic components of their investigations.  

Your background:

  • Ideally 3 years' experience in electronic forensics
  • Experience in using electronic forensic software including EnCase, Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite, XRY
  • Ideally a CompTIA A+ certification
  • Ability to learn fast, think on your feet, multitask task and be a natural problem solver
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate with a technical and non-technical audience
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and demands
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders

Other candidate requirements

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Meet NZ Customs' minimum physical fitness standards
  • Obtain and maintain a national security clearance.
