Job Description

This role may include facilitation of training for rural volunteers' as you will work with the Training Coordinator to ensure that rural volunteer firefighters in the Far North/Whangarei/Kaipara Districts are fit for purpose and to ensure their firefighter readiness at all times.

You will be involved in assisting the Principal Rural Fire Officer with the management of the fire capability in the Far North/Whangarei/Kaipara Districts so that we meet the required national standards and the local Fire Plan requirements.

We need an experienced rural firefighter with excellent planning and relationship building skills, who is self-motivated and can work unsupervised. Experience in Adult Training or training facilitation would be advantageous.

We also need the following skills and attributes:

  • Understanding of volunteering and experience engaging effectively with volunteers
  • Current drivers licence (heavy traffic licence desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Adaptable and able to demonstrate leadership capability
  • Able to work autonomously at times but also in collaboration with colleagues
