Job Description

Manager Relationships (Investment)

The Tertiary Education Commission's (TEC) mission is to ensure that all New Zealanders are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for life long achievement. TEC invests $3.2 billion annually in the tertiary education system. With the integration of Careers New Zealand in July 2017, and an ambitious strategy to regenerate the sector, TEC is reorganising its entire organisation to meet these challenges. This new position follows a strategic and functional realignment of the Commission to support its focus on New Zealand's future success.

Reporting to the new role of Deputy Chief Executive Delivery, this role is responsible for the management of the relationships with the top 150 Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) and contributing to the development and delivery of the overall TEC relationship management strategy and plan for the TEOs, and the segmenting of the TEO customer base.

You will ensure that individual relationship plans are developed with and for each of the 150 TEOs, assign Relationship Managers (RMs) to TEOs, and ensure that RMs consistently contribute to monitoring the delivery of investment at individual TEOs, and consistently and effectively feed that back to the TEC team and record in the CRM for wider use.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically around what we are seeking to achieve, and convert this into plans, systems and processes
  • A commercial background
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring professional staff, and encouraging them to develop a systems approach to the work
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to model and embrace change and new ways of working.
