We have a fixed-term (until 30 June 2019), part-time (16 hours/week) role based in central Wellington.

Are you a tech-savvy quick learner with a keen eye for detail? Maybe you're an information technology or web design student or recent graduate looking for an opportunity to grow your skills and work experience. If so, we have a unique opportunity for you within the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) Education Technologies team.

Located within Training, the Education Technologies team is responsible for ensuring the provision and management of learning technology solutions that meet the current and future needs of FENZ's 14000+ learners. This includes managing FENZ's Learning Management System (LMS) and researching new approaches within the online training environment.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

As Education Technologies Assistant, you'll be assisting the Education Technologies Advisor with the functional/technical testing of e-Learning resources to ensure that they work for diverse learners across a range of ICT environments. You'll ideally be familiar with SCORM content and Flash/HTML5 web standards, and will be responsible for helping manually test a range of e-Learning resources and for clearly documenting any issues (such as bugs and glitches) you find. You may also occasionally be asked to undertake other duties consistent with the position as may be required from time to time by the Education Technologies Team Leader.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • intermediate qualifications or skills in IT or web/digital media technology or design
  • good interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • proficiency in using MS Office
  • a strong eye for detail.

Experience in using Articulate Storyline and Rise is desirable but not necessary.

Fulfilment of the role hours will ideally be split across two to four days each week. We can provide some flexibility around timing and total hours for the right candidate.
