Environment and Release Support Specialist - Fixed Term - Wellington at Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Wellington - Wairarapa

Mo tenei turanga - about the role

Join a once-in-a-generation transformation at Fire and Emergency New Zealand embarking on a journey to modernise and future-proof the delivery of payroll and HR services to our people. We are currently about midway through the delivery of this critically important project.

The Environment and Release Support Specialist will work closely with the Environment and Release Manager to provide structured coordination and day to day support across the solution included systems, such as Workday (HR), Dayforce (Payroll), Azure Integration Services and multiple downstream systems (e.g. Station Management System, Snowflake Modern Data Platform) to ensure the required environments are reliable, secure, and ready for all phases of the programme.

Working with the Environment and Release Manager, you will be responsible for providing structured coordination and day to day support for the solution across the non-production environments and delivery into production. On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, vendors, and our ICT team to facilitate smooth deployments
  • Assist with planning, coordinating and executing releases across multiple environments
  • Support test environments by ensuring they are fit for purpose and kept in sync.
  • Ensure compliance with release management process and governance standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of release and environment management practices

 

This is a fixed term position until 30 April 2027.

 

Ko tau na i tenei turanga - What you'll bring to the role:

Bring your experience supporting environment and release management within complex delivery programmes, along with a strong understanding of the SDLC.  You will be detailed focused, well organised and confident co-ordinating releases and maintaining stable test environments to meet delivery timelines.  With a proactive mindset you will be comfortable with troubleshooting issues, collaborating across technical and business teams and continuously improving processes to support smooth and reliable deployments.

 

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will have:

  • Proven experience in environment management and release support in complex IT landscapes
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC and release management processes
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building strong working relationships with a wide range of vendors
  • A continuous improvement mindset, and a drive to take ownership of the work

 

The salary range for this role is $102,751 – $114,168 (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
