About the team

Ward 6C is a 12-bed acute assessment and treatment unit for people aged over 65 years with an array of mental health (along with some physical health) needs, located in Dunedin Hospital.

About the role / about you

A strong knowledge base is essential to meeting the challenge of caring for older people in a mental health environment as no two days are the same. You will have a high standards of competence and performance, and enjoy the challenge of working with patients in this setting. While previous mental health experience would be preferred, it is not essential if you have an interest in working with older people.

We are seeking someone who is warm, empathetic, responsive and highly attuned to the emotions, needs and motivations of older people.

It goes without saying you will be a Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate and a mental health scope of practice. Information regarding applicable scope of practices can be found at
