About the role - what's in it for me?

As a Social Worker in this team you will have sound social work knowledge and skills, be a team player with excellent communication skills and work cohesively as part of the interdisciplinary team. You'll be part of the acute medical surgical social work team based at Dunedin Public Hospital. This team is committed to delivering a service of the highest standard. We offer access to regular supervision, professional development and peer support.

You will provide social work practice facilitating safe discharges from fast paced wards, and ensuring patient safety and risk assessments have been carried out. You will also work closely with other Health Professionals and non-governmental organisations.

About you

You should be experienced in working in the health sector, preferably in acute adult areas. You should have the ability to work creatively and autonomously and to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team, and be able to communicate easily with a variety of people. You will need to think on your feet and remain calm under pressure.

You must hold a Professional Social Worker qualification (as per Social Worker Registration Board schedules for registration eligibility i.e. Bachelor's degree equivalent) and be registered and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate with Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) within three months of appointment. A current full driver's licence is required.

Dunedin is a University town and has something to offer most people. It has a long and rich history which is reflected in its many Museums, including the Settlers Museum and Art Galleries.Dunedin also offers affordable housing.
