Job Description

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the fire-fighters who serve them, now and in the future.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Organisational Development (OD) professional to join our busy team dedicated to People Capability and Leadership. Reporting to the Lead of People, Capability and Leadership, you'll be responsible for supporting a broad range of OD projects that enhance our People strategies.

As an Advisor you'll work collaboratively with the wider People branch and broader integration programme to ensure that People, Capability, and Leadership deliverables are well developed, integrated, and coordinated. In addition, you'll contribute to ensuing the effective monitoring and reporting of new initiatives, projects and programmes.

The ideal applicants will have the following:

  • Ability to support key projects in relation to diversity and inclusion, people strategy, workforce planning, leadership development, reward and recognition, and talent management
  • Understanding of current New Zealand employment law and HR practices
  • Ability to support projects in a fast paced project management environment - supporting a project matrix approach
  • Ability to proactively manage internal and external relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and an inclusive and approachable working style
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio)

This is a fixed-term role ending in approximately December 2019, attracting a salary range of $70,000 to $78,000 gross per annum.

We would like this role to be filled quickly, so being available to start immediately would be a plus. We are also happy to consider this role for an internal or interdepartmental secondment.
