About the role – Mō tēnei tūranga
The Manager Strategic Communications reports to the National Manager Communications and Engagement and is responsible for managing a team of communications professionals to lead and deliver strategic and operational internal and corporate communications for Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
As part of the Communications and Engagement Directorate leadership team, you will have the opportunity to drive and influence communications activities right across the organisation.
There may be a requirement for travel during this 9-month fixed term.
What you'll bring to the role – Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga
Leading a team of five, you will have proven leadership skills that enable you to build upon the current capability of your team. Your strategic mindset will help you to manage a diverse and connected work programme with competing demands, and your strong management and relationship skills will stand you in good stead in our complex and fast paced environment. A strong attention to detail and a highly tuned risk radar are paramount, along with the ability to listen, interpret and action key communications deliverables.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you to:
- Be a strong leader who empowers their team and fosters collaboration. You will have demonstrated people management experience.
- Have significant experience in strategic, corporate and/or internal communications.
- Have significant experience managing across multiple priorities, including excellent workflow planning and management skills.
- Have a strong risk radar, including issues management experience.
- Have a laser-focused and well-honed attention to detail, especially across written communications.
- Have an understanding of working within an emergency management environment.
The salary range for this role is $151,774-$168,638 (pro-rated) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
