Applicants are sought for a 12-month fixed-term position of Kaitautoko (Tutor / Senior Tutor) Māori, School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Te Kunenga Ki Pūrehuroa, Massey University. This role is fixed-term for the duration that it is funded and can be located on either the Manawatū or Albany Campus locations.

The Kaitautoko Māori is based in the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (SMCS). The School provides the delivery of a number of large first-year courses supporting (part-time, full-time, distance, and in-person) students in degrees across the College of Sciences.
The role exists to provide pastoral, cultural and academic (mathematics tutoring) support for Māori tauira (students) in the courses led by SMCS. The role also includes contributing to developing innovative strategies in partnership with the SMCS and College of Sciences in order to improve Māori student participation, success, and retention.

Ideal candidates will have a relevant tertiary qualification and experience that includes the following:
- Experience teaching mathematics at an appropriate level
- Proven excellence in working with a diverse range of people including tauira, academics and whānau in a dynamic and challenging university environment
- Understanding of the needs of tauira who are transitioning from High School, work or other life endeavours into University
- Ability to converse in te reo and familiarity with Kaupapa Māori (highly desirable)
- History of working with Māori tauira in a variety of roles e.g. hall residents, tutoring, mentoring, scholarships etc
