Senior Advisor, Information Requests - Fixed Term - Wellington at Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Wellington - Wairarapa

Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role

Our team purpose is helping the organisation to do the right thing – kia tika.

As a Senior Advisor Information Requests, you will provide trusted advice on Official Information Act and Privacy Act matters, oversee complex and sensitive requests, and support decision making across the organisation.

You'll work closely with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and regional teams to manage requests from start to finish, navigate challenging issues, and ensure responses are delivered within statutory timeframes.

Alongside your own portfolio of work, you'll support and mentor advisors within the team, help lift capability across the organisation, and contribute to improving the way we manage information requests.

You will be someone who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, exercising sound judgement, and managing sensitive or high-risk matters with professionalism and care.

This is a 6-month fixed term or secondment position.

To be successful in this role, you'll be confident building strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

You'll bring strong judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex or sensitive matters effectively. This role will particularly suit someone with strong experience and interest in Official Information Act practice and the challenges of statutory decision making in a complex operational environment.

 

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will have:

  • Significant experience managing Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests, including complex, high-profile, or sensitive matters
  • Strong understanding of statutory decision making and demonstrated ability to apply legislation to complex practical scenarios
  • Experience providing advice in situations involving organisational, reputational, or legal risk
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-reasoned responses
  • Strong analytical capability and sound judgement when working through ambiguity or competing considerations
  • Proven ability to build credibility and work effectively with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across an organisation
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting the development of others
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high quality work under pressure
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement

 

The salary range for this role is $96,998 - $107,776 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
