This role

Our Start-Up and Corporate Venturing sector is the group of organisations involved in the high-risk stage of early company development where ideas or research get translated into commercial opportunities.

As a Senior Technology Incubator Specialist, you are a unique specialist in the high tech field.

You will:

  • assist the Group Manager Start-up Business Acceleration and Partnership to create and implement a Technology Incubator strategy in order to deliver excellence and outcomes required by MBIE and Callaghan Innovation ELT
  • have a well-developed network of relationships of influence at all levels across the technology sectors particularly with the both public and private organisations that create deep tech IP
  • work closely with the Incubators, the start-up businesses and the wider ecosystem to enabling the Start-Ups to accelerate the pace of commercialisation.

To be successful you will have the following attributes and skills:

  • A tertiary technical qualification preferably PHD and business experience preferably with a business qualification
  • Minimum of five years experience in transferring deep tech IP to commercialisation
  • Solid knowledge of high-tech within NZ and global stage
  • Proven track record of bring together multi-disciplined solutions-oriented teams to provide client solutions with the high technology field
  • Previous experience both as an advisor to deep technology businesses ranging from early stage to growth
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills, including proven ability to negotiate
  • Track record of commercialisation
  • Forward thinker
  • A challenging and constructive approach to evaluating commercial opportunities and execution strategies
  • A focus on outcomes
  • Proven ability to work with complexity, ambiguity and constraints
  • Ability to manage competing demands and determine priorities
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Sound judgement and makes consistently good decisions
  • Solid understanding of putting the customer at the heart of everything they do
  • Uses a clear and professional written and verbal communication approach to strategic or tactical purpose at a level relevant to the needs of the position
