Salary Range: $71,357.00 - $96,542.00

The NZ Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre are seeking to appoint an Infrastructure Support Engineer to the Technology Operations group, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua.


The Police ICT Service Centre is here to save police officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police needs information delivered to the front line that is reliable and able to be accessed anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. With our operational colleagues and partners we create world leading solutions in mobile, computer aided dispatch, intelligence, networks and security.

This role is responsible for providing management of the day to day technical and functional direction of our SAN systems, delivering 2nd and 3rd level support to business owners and end users to ensure data integrity, reliability and performance at optimal efficiency. The roles also provide support of Linux systems, including implementing new solutions and services, and the pro-active maintenance and enhancement of existing systems.


The role will primarily be supporting the operational SAN's at New Zealand Police.


All of our SAN Engineers are also cross skilled in Linux.


It is a dynamic and challenging position with a mix of both BAU Operational and Project work.



  • Comprehensive SAN Administration experience
  • Knowledge and experience related to performance tuning and best practices with SAN systems
  • Experience providing 24/7 support in an enterprise environment (On-call)
  • Skills relating to supporting Red Hat Linux systems
  • Positive can do attitude. 
  • Desire to learn / grow and share knowledge


It would be advantageous but not a requirement for any potential candidates to be able demonstrate to the following:

  • Experience with IBM P9100 SAN's or other IBM recent SAN's
  • Proven experience in supporting/patching/troubleshooting Linux system in a large organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise level support tools for SAN Systems
  • Substantiated understanding of Change Control and Incident Management processes
