Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role:
As a Senior Advisor Community Readiness and Recovery, you'll support the Community Risk Manager to enhance how community readiness and recovery initiatives are delivered across the district.
This is a hands-on, community-focused role where you'll:
- Deliver engaging education programmes and presentations to support community preparedness
- Work alongside Brigades to strengthen connections within local communities
- Collaborate with iwi and tāngata whenua to build strong, meaningful partnerships and improve outcomes for Māori
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of community readiness and recovery initiatives
- Apply strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to achieve positive outcomes
This is a fixed-term role starting ASAP through to 31 December 2026
Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you'll bring to the role:
The Senior Advisor Community Readiness and Recovery will coach and mentor other team members to build their capability and support the Community Risk Manager to plan and deliver the District's community readiness and recovery programme of work, in line with national initiatives and direction.

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:
- Sound experience in issue analysis and report writing – clarity of thinking, defines issues well, gathers all necessary information and produces thorough, objective sound advice
- Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking, negotiation and problem-solving skills to address or resolve complex situations
- Current clean Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated ability to establish credibility across the organisation and with partners and communities of interest
The salary range for this role is $119,576 - $132,862 (pro rata) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
