Job Description

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

Our Training Quality team provides quality assurance services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand Training, and the Team Leader Training Quality is a key leadership role supporting the development of high quality training across all Fire and Emergency New Zealand training activities.

The purpose of this position is to:

  • implement the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Training Quality Assurance strategy, systems, policy, and practice
  • take responsibility as the Fire and Emergency New Zealand National Moderator / Evaluator and oversight of all assessment moderation
  • support pedagogical best practice
  • lead the implementation of effective evaluation frameworks, practices and reporting across all training delivery
  • monitor and report on national consistency of training delivery and assessment decisions
  • support and develop operational field moderators and trainers
  • lead, develop and maintain a high performing team.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • experience in, and / or knowledge of, the application of quality assurance processes
  • a relevant tertiary qualification (National Diploma Adult Education and Training - Level 5 or higher, or equivalent qualification) or equivalent work experience
  • substantial knowledge and recent successful experience in leading quality assurance within a training setting
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • the ability to travel.

The remuneration range for this position is $90,960 - $107,012. Benefits include matched KiwiSaver employer contributions of up to 6%, life and income protection insurance for KiwiSaver contributors, and unlimited fair use sick leave policy.
