Wellington District Intelligence Unit

District Headquarters, Wellington

Permanent, Full-Time

Salary Range $51,123 - $69,167

The Wellington District Intelligence unit supports district Police leaders and frontline officers in understanding and planning for risks, challenges and opportunities in Wellington District's criminal environment.  The work we do directly contributes to positive outcomes for our communities, by helping to deploy our Police officers efficiently, and reducing victimisation.  As an Intelligence Support Officer, you will be involved in informing decision makers, leading to safer communities across the Wellington district.


This position requires someone who can work in a dynamic environment and work to a high standard.


Purpose of this role is:

To contribute to crime and crash reduction and the prevention and disruption of criminal activity by; scanning both internal and external databases, collating and interpreting data, preparing nationally standardised intelligence products that inform and support prevention, intervention and enforcement activities. There will be a requirement to brief decision-makers on products you have produced
Skills, knowledge and experience you will be able to demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of the New Zealand Police 'Our Business' Strategy
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office and in particular, Excel
  • Ability to maintain your quality of work under strict timeframes
  • Ability to present complex issues (written and verbal) clearly to a range of audiences

Additional Information:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
  • A current NZ Driver Licence
  • Successful applicant must reside within a commutable distance from Wellington Central Police Station
