Job Description

Data Specialist

We are looking for someone with a passion for data and analytics to develop our database and reporting dashboard - to optimise efficient data flow and management and streamline our reporting.

With a move towards becoming a data driven organisation, we are committed to providing our stakeholders with high quality data and analytics to enable evidence-based reporting and decision making.

This is a 6 month, fixed term appointment in our Auckland based office.

Join us in our journey to make a difference and to improve accountability and good governance in the Pacific region. Working with the Director Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting, you will be responsible for:

  • conducting an assessment of current data capture mechanisms and an existing web-based database, identify gaps and data quality issues and suggest potential solutions
  • designing a fit-for-purpose database to ensure systematic collection of high-quality data. The database must be scalable and flexible to meet current and future reporting requirements
  • developing a reporting dashboard aligned with the Integrated Reporting Framework to meet reporting requirements of the PASAI Board and funding partners
  • ensuring a database-dashboard link to allow for automatic updates and streamlined reporting
  • exploring the feasibility of integrating information from PASAI's existing accounting system (Xero)
  • developing User Guides and other appropriate supporting documentation.

You will need to offer the following skills and attributes:

  • An undergraduate degree in data management, data analytics, information systems, mathematics, research/evaluation or related discipline.
  • Robust knowledge of data management, data integration, information management and concepts critical to data and data flows.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and Information Management tools (e.g. MS Access).
  • Five to seven years experience in data analytics and transforming multi-channel data into meaningful insights through dashboards and other forms of data visualisation to inform data-driven business decisions.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Project management skills and a track record of delivering required outputs in a timely manner.
