Youth Justice Supervisor (Permanent), Greater Wellington

Permanent/Full time

The Greater Wellington Youth Justice Team services the Greater Wellington Region. We are a vibrant team that seek to ensure we get the best outcomes for our children and young people. We work in partnership to address harm caused, restore mana, heal and seek to put things right.  

 

As a Youth Justice Supervisor for the Greater Wellington Youth Justice Team, you will manage, lead and work in partnership and have responsibility for a team of social workers located across Greater Wellington.  There is lots of variety and challenge with no two days being the same. Your ability to quickly work through complex situations to make solid safe decisions will be greatly valued.    

 

To do well in this role you need:

  • A passion for Youth Justice and to work for Oranga Tamariki
  • A Social Work qualification recognised by the Social Work Registration Board along with current SWRB registration and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • sound statutory social work knowledge and practice
  • Outstanding relationship management skills
  • An ability to lead a team of social workers
  • To understand and strengthen staff capability by promoting quality practise
  • Experience managing people and building relationships
  • current full clean New Zealand drivers licence with no conditions
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • resilience, ability to work under pressure
  • strong cultural competency and able to work within bi-cultural frameworks
  • ability to quickly establish relationships with stakeholders
  • An understanding of the core values of Oranga Tamariki and
  • To have a desire and understanding of the six key building blocks that will underpin our work  

 

As someone who holds credibility with others, you'll be able to lead quality practice our clients deserve to experience. You may be a senior social worker ready to step into a Supervisor role, or returning from overseas but you'll be a highly competent and experienced social worker ready to step-up to the challenge.
