Then you already have the skills to work alongside our social workers to make a difference for children and young people, who need some special support for a few critical months in their lives.

 

Oranga Tamariki are seeking casual Family Home Relievers to support and care for children and young people in our Family Home in Christchurch. Our Family Homes are places of safety where children and young people can get on with life, while we work with families to find them a permanent loving home, either with their whānau or in their community.

 

These positions form part of a casual pool of staff that can provide short or long term support for our Family Home Caregivers who work so hard to keep our children and young people safe.

 

Family Home Relievers at Oranga Tamariki carry out a variety of tasks including:

  • day to day care of children and young people
  • meal preparation
  • providing emotional support to vulnerable children
  • coordinating transport to and from appointments.

 

To work as a Family Home Reliever you will need to have:

  • a passion for working and supporting children, young people and their challenges
  • a positive attitude and is enthusiastic about their work
  • experience in caregiving, community work, or working with young people is an advantage
  • a high level of resilience and motivation
  • a full clean driver's licence.
