.5 FTE Social Worker – Whanau Caregiver


At Oranga Tamariki, we are passionate about caring for children and supporting families. Our goal is to establish a multiagency approach to protecting and caring for New Zealand's most vulnerable children and young people.


We are currently looking for a permanent qualified Social Worker to join our passionate team at our Rangiora site: the position is a Whanau Caregiver Social Worker.   In this fast paced role, you will work with other social services, agencies and providers to ensure the needs of the child or young person and their family are fully met.


The Whanau Caregiver Social Worker provides support to whanau caregivers who are providing nurturing and safe homes for kids from within their own family network.  Another important part of the role is to support social workers to search for and assess whanau who are able to care for kids from their wider family.

  • salary range is between $45,948 - $70,883 (Qualified Social Worker)


To be successful in this rewarding position, you will need:

  • a qualification in social work recognised by the social work registration board
  • SWRB registration with current APC or working towards gaining registration
  • excellent written & oral communication skills
  • demonstrated resilience, problem solving techniques & flexibility
  • excellent time management & organisational skills
  • strong PC & Microsoft Office Suite skills with excellent report writing and written communication skills
  • full current driver's licence
