About us:


Oranga Tamariki is the new Ministry for Vulnerable Children dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in New Zealand. We were formed from Child, Youth and Family, the Children's Action Plan, Community Investment and other parts of the Ministry of Social Development. We bought all these services for children together in one Ministry with a single focus – to put the wellbeing of Tamariki first


About the role:


This is one of three key leadership roles in the Policy, Investment and Evidence Group reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive.  We are looking for an experienced policy leader who can inspire, motivate and lead our policy work to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people in New Zealand. With your team, you will be responsible for delivering  a challenging and high profile programme of work.


Skills and experience:


As well as having a strong desire to apply your strategic thinking, you will have substantial senior management experience in a policy environment.  Your leadership skills will be exceptional, you will be dedicated and results focused and have the strategic nous to navigate a complex environment. 


A trusted and dedicated people leader, who both supports and challenges our people to be their absolute best, your ability to coach and inspire means you have a record of developing others to step up and lead.


You will preferably have a background in social policy and experience of the interface between policy and delivery. Our Policy, Investment and Evidence team is focused on taking an investment approach. You will therefore understand how to utilise in an investment approach in the delivery of policy.
