Job Description

Fixed term Communications Adviser

(Part time 30 hours per week, 9 months fixed term)

The Parliamentary Counsel Office (PCO) provides legislative drafting services to the Government and publishes official legislation online and in hard copy.    We are looking for an additional communications resource to support a number of limited-duration projects and business-as-usual initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced person to fill the role of part-time Communications Adviser for a fixed-term period of nine months, working around 30 hours a week.

Reporting to the permanent Communications Adviser, you will be developing content for internal and external audiences; writing and production tasks on PCO websites, newsletters, and reports; and proofreading internal and external communications prior to publication.  You will also be establishing and maintaining stakeholder contact databases, including robust records of communications with stakeholders.

You will have at least three year's previous experience in a similar role, with skills and interests in multi-media formats.  Ideally you will have an understanding of the parliamentary sector.

You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to write for print and web, proficiency in using industry standard web editing software programmes, and demonstrable advanced skills in MS Office and InDesign.  You will need to be able to work without close supervision and be ready to provide a high level of customer service.

Please see http://www.pco.parliament.govt.nz/current-vacancies/  for the job description, person specification and how to apply.   For further information about the position, please contact Gillian McIlraith on 04 817 6707.

Applications close: 8am on Monday 25 September 2017.
