Job Description

The Ministry for the Environment's (MfE) purpose of making Aotearoa New Zealand the most livable country in the world will resonate with all New Zealanders. To deliver on this the Ministry must deliver on its strategy to enhance its extensive range of partnerships with external organisations, and they believe they have the leadership and commitment of great people to take it forward.

This newly created senior leadership role will play an influential part within the Environmental Leadership Team, representing MfE both domestically and internationally across a wide range of stakeholders. The ultimate purpose of this role is to tangibly shift mindsets and change behaviors through effective partnering and engagement within the public and private sectors.

Your challenge is to achieve transformation – specifically to achieve a shift in the way the Ministry operates and influences through next level partnerships and innovative engagements with a broad range of New Zealanders (Iwi, Maori, Government and the Private Sector).

You will challenge the traditional mindsets and boundaries of how the public-sector works, shifting thinking beyond traditional policy and regulatory development.

The ideal candidate will understand complexity, bring intellectual horsepower, and stimulate thinking with all stakeholders. You will be resilient and comfortable with paving a new way of creatively engaging with the community. With demonstrable strategic agility across stakeholder management, communications, and building long lasting coalition partnerships.

Your previous experience will have come from a role with scale and complexity or par with this opportunity.
