Job Description

Portfolio Manager

• Great opportunity to lead significant programmes of work aligned to organisational priorities and targets benefits
• Strong relationship and stakeholder engagement focus
• Permanent role, Wellington

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, co-ordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social wellbeing of New Zealanders.

The Portfolio Manager is a fantastic role for an experienced programme management professional to join Service Delivery team, where you'll successfully lead delivery of projects across the organisation. This is a busy and varied role where you'll be responsible for managing multiple projects and/or programmes in parallel.

Key accountabilities include:

• Day to day management of programmes and projects ensuring successful delivery of the new capability and services
• Working with Service Delivery and IT on technology design and development projects
• Managing and resolving any risks and issues and initiating corrective action
• Managing the portfolio/programme/project budget
• Managing communications with internal and external stakeholders

It goes without saying that you enjoy building relationships and delivering results in a dynamic and busy environment. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of portfolio management experience and a strong understanding of prioritisation and decision making criteria to inform programme planning, monitoring and delivery techniques. This role would suit an innovative problem solver with a curious mind and a focus on solutions.

If you are keen to take on a challenge, we would like to talk with you.
