About our organisation

The Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki is dedicated to supporting any child or young person in New Zealand whose wellbeing is at significant risk of harm now, or in the future. Oranga Tamariki provides services for children and young people with a single focus – to put the wellbeing of children and young people above all else.   A child-centred approach is at the heart of everything we do. This starts and ends with the voices of the children and young people we are here to support. These voices inform any decision-making that affects them, at both and individual and systemic level.  This approach also means that, at every step of our work, we ask ourselves ‘Is this the right thing to do for children and young people?'
